Gamel's tenure as a leadoff hitter has been a rousing success, with the rookie slashing .421/.452/.526 over 41 plate appearances in that role. The 25-year-old is on a tear at the plate overall, posting five multi-hit outings over his last six games and carrying a .415 average in the first 13 games of June. Given the lackluster results generated by other options such as Jarrod Dyson at the top of the order, Gamel's success is a welcome sight and is undoubtedly keeping him in the lineup despite the recent return of Mitch Haniger from the disabled list.
