Chicago Bears - Fantasy News
The Chicago Bears were by and large a fantasy wasteland in 2016.
The Bears finished the season 28th in the league in points, and only two players ended the season averaging more than 10 Dober Fantasy Points a game. That led to the team cutting ties with the much-maligned Jay Cutler during the offseason. Only a handful of teams had worse production from the quarterback position than Chicago did last season.
One of the few bright spots for the Bears in 2016 was the emergence of rookie Jordan Howard. Howard ended the year as the league’s second-leading rusher, and he was worth 14.84 DFP. His ability to produce without any semblance of a passing game is a testament to his talent. He might have even more value this season with an inexperienced quarterback checking down to him often.
Poor Cam Meredith. Meredith was a decent fantasy option with Brian Hoyer or Matt Barkley throwing him the ball last year. The Bears’ unsettled quarterback situation is sure to hurt his fantasy value in 2017, though. Neither Mike Glennon nor Mitchell Trubisky are proven and either is sure to struggle. Additionally, the Bears brought in Markus Wheaton in the offseason, which also suggests a drop in Meredith’s production.
