Boyd was originally thought to be ruled out because of a hamstring issue, but according to Lewis that was not the case. The second-year receiver's healthy scratch forced the Bengals to turn to rookie John Ross as well as return specialist Alex Erickson to complement Brandon Lafell and A.J. Green in the receiving game. The combination wasn't effective, however, as Ross fumbled his only touch and the offense failed to score a touchdown for a second straight game. More information should emerge regarding Boyd's status in the leadup to Week 3.
