Depending on how early in the draft Indianapolis addresses its backfield, Gore could be looking at immediate competition for carries. A first- or second-round selection would be expected to contribute immediately, potentially even posing a threat to Gore's grasp on the lead job. On the other hand, a middle-round draft pick might be viewed as more of a developmental project, with eyes on grooming him for 2018 and beyond. Set to turn 34 just two weeks after the draft, Gore is entering the final season of his three-year contract, coming off back-to-back campaigns in which he fell shy of four yards per carry. He was still a useful part of the Indianapolis offense last season, contributing 1,302 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns while also providing a steady presence in pass protection. The Colts don't have much talent behind him, with Robert Turbin and Josh Ferguson rounding out the depth chart.
