Indianapolis Colts - Fantasy News

It doesn't take a genius to know that this season is lost for the Indianapolis Colts. They dropped to 3-7 on the season after a 20-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and there's no recovering from here.

However, the year at least felt like it had something left to play for. As Andrew Luck continues to recover from his shoulder problems, Jacoby Brissett has stepped into the lineup and at least kept a bad team fantasy-relevant and usually somewhat competitive. With Brissett now in concussion protocol, the rest of the Colts' top fantasy players could be watching their seasons go up in smoke.

Brissett has been far from a fantasy superstar, but he’s averaged a healthy 15.80 Dober Fantasy Points in nine starts this season, beating his Projected Fantasy Points total in six of the nine outings. He's bested men like Tyrod Taylor and Eli Manning and is right on par with guys like Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan and Derek Carr.

Scott Tolzien being God-awful is what prompted the Colts to trade for Brissett in the first place. He started the first game of the year against the Rams and went 9-for-18 for 128 yards with two interceptions before getting benched. His other three career starts? Not much more to write home about.

Scott Tolzien Career Game Log (Starts Only)
2013 at Giants: 24-for-34, 339 Yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs (9.66 DFP)
2013 vs. Vikings: 7-for-17, 98 Yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs (12.42 DFP)
2016 vs. Steelers: 22-for-36, 205 Yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs (8.80 DFP)
2017 at Rams: 9-for-18, 128 Yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs (1.32 DFP)

Tolzien is averaging an interception every 15 pass attempts in those games and has thrown just two touchdowns on 146 career throws. His average of 8.05 DFP per game would leave him dead last by over three points per game amongst qualified NFL starting quarterbacks this year.

Hell, even Tom Savage put up 10.76 DFP against the Colts two weeks ago, and he's as bad as it gets in the NFL.

Consequently, the fantasy prospects of the rest of the Colts players are in peril, too. T.Y. Hilton is erratic, but was at least capable of the 33.0 DFP he put up against Houston two weeks ago. Jack Doyle consistently hauled in at least a few passes on a regular basis and was turning into a red zone threat. Even Chester Rogers was fresh off of the biggest game of his career against the Steelers.

Now, all of that is up in the air. Tolzien has absolutely zero ability to make any wide receivers fantasy-relevant, and it's highly unlikely that's changing in the games ahead.

The only good news for the Colts is that they have a bye next week, giving Brissett a full two weeks to come out of concussion protocol. Even still, the task ahead isn't small with all three AFC South teams, and Denver, still left on the schedule.

If Tolzien is the man leading the charge after Thanksgiving, you can clearly place a giant red line through the names of any Colts receivers when analyzing your Dober Play Cards in Week 13.
