Mack is a big-play running back who set the all-time rushing record at South Florida in just three seasons, averaging 1,203 yards per year at 6.12 yards per carry. The Colts picked him in the fourth round to add depth to a thin backfield that features only the 34-year-old Frank Gore, career backup Robert Turbin and undrafted second-year player Josh Ferguson. While it will be very difficult for Mack to unseat Gore ahead of Week 1, he likely has a legitimate shot to wrestle the No. 2 role from Turbin (while Ferguson focuses on his role as the team's primary kick returner), especially if he can prove himself in pass protection.
