The Chiefs won the AFC West in 2016, which was a first during the Andy Reid tenure at Kansas City. As is the case with virtually every team under Reid’s tutelage, the Chiefs were competent offensively, but the defense was where this squad made its money. Eric Berry and Marcus Peters were the pillars of one of the top secondaries in the NFL, and in this pass-happy era that’s a valuable commodity.
He might be a hothead, but Travis Kelce has emerged as one of the top tight end choices in the NFL. Kelce was worth more Dober Fantasy Points than any other tight end in 2016, and earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors as Alex Smith’s No. 1 option. He ended the year with five 100-yard performances in his last seven outings.
Tyreek Hill is going to get ample opportunities to touch the ball in 2017. Of the 85 occasions his paws patted the pigskin last year, Hill found the end zone nine times, which is a ridiculous ratio. Hill has blazing speed and a first move that can lead to him breaking anything for a big gain if there is a lone defender. Reid started trying to find ways to isolate him one-on-one late in the season and you can bet he will utilize him in that role even more this year.
