It's officially time for the Oakland Raiders to panic.
They got Derek Carr back in the fold after missing just one game with a back injury, but his return wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Chargers in a 17-16 loss at Oakland Coliseum in Week 6.
It feels like eons ago that Cordarrelle Patterson was a first-round pick in the NFL Draft. The former Minnesota Viking has found a home here in Oakland, and though he isn't used as a pass-catcher all that often, he's still making splashy plays from time to time. In what amounted to be the biggest play of his career, Patterson took a run around the end for a 47-yard touchdown that provided the go-ahead score for the Raiders midway through the fourth quarter.
This was the third time in six games this season that Patterson surpassed his Projected Fantasy Points total.
Yet it was Philip Rivers who had the last laugh.
Rivers generated an expertly-crafted 11-play, 78-yard drive that ate the final 4:09 of the game. Nick Novak booted a 32-yarder at the gun to win it for the Bolts, giving them a second straight narrow escape of a victory after four crushing blows to kick off the campaign.
All in all, Patterson and Melvin Gordon were really the only two major fantasy standouts on Sunday afternoon at the Black Hole. Derek Carr, Philip Rivers, Marshawn Lynch, Amari Cooper and all of the Los Angeles wide receivers finished below their PFPs.
Mike Williams saw his first NFL action, but he was disappointingly sparingly on the field. The rookie from Clemson finished with just one reception for 15 yards, though his catch did setup the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter before Patterson's scamper.
