Wacky Week 13 in the NFL is sure to bring out some surprises at wide receiver positions. There are a few teams that have some unique opportunities for receivers to shine, and they'll make for easy targets for this week's wide receiver sleepers.
Seth Roberts (4.02 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Giants: 4.0
Amari Cooper is concussed, and Michael Crabtree is suspended. Someone has to catch passes from Derek Carr on Sunday against the Giants, and Seth Roberts is likely to be that man.
Roberts posted a disappointing 3.6 Dober Fantasy Points last week for the Raiders, but he was on the field for 57 snaps, more than any other Oakland receiver. At some point, that playing time will turn into targets, and targets will turn into fantasy points. This is a horribly understated Projected Fantasy Points total that Roberts is up against.
Josh Gordon (0.00 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Chargers: 4.5
Josh Gordon might be the biggest wild card in fantasy football in Week 13. Most fantasy players remember Gordon for being explosive in 2013 and 2014, but he hasn't played in a game since that point thanks to numerous suspensions, and it's a complete guess how much of an impact he'll be able to have on the Browns this week against Los Angeles.
Here's what we do know, though: Ricardo Louis and Rashard Higgins shouldn't be keeping Gordon off the field. Corey Coleman remains the top dog in the Cleveland lineup, but Gordon could carve out a great niche, too. His ceiling is higher than that of almost any other middling receiver in Week 13.
Eric Decker (5.05 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Texans: 6.0
Eric Decker hasn't put up huge numbers since coming over to Tennessee in free agency, but he's been a consistent target for Marcus Mariota. Decker was on the field on 91 percent of the Titans' snaps last week with Rishard Matthews out of the fold, and though that only translated into 3.8 Dober Fantasy Points, better could be expected on Sunday against Houston.
Josh Reynolds (1.36 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Cardinals: 1.0
Who is Josh Reynolds, you may ask? He is a 6-foot-3 rookie from Texas A&M who suddenly built a great rapport with Jared Goff last week against the Saints.
Sean McVay loves his three wide receiver sets, and with Robert Woods injured, someone had to step into that role. Surprisingly, it wasn't Tavon Austin, rather Reynolds who got the extra love. He took 61 snaps after being on the field for just 85 snaps in the first 10 games of his career, and that could be a sign of things to come.
It will only take one or two catches for Reynolds to beat his Projected Fantasy Points total, and he has the ability to have significantly more than that this Sunday at Arizona.
Trent Taylor (4.09 Dober Fantasy Points Per Game)
Projected Fantasy Points vs. Bears: 4.5
Trent Taylor has consistently been targeted in the San Francisco passing game, and if Jimmy Garoppolo really takes over under center for an injured C.J. Beathard, that should only boost his chances of success against the Bears.
Taylor has consistently been the preferred No. 2 target in the 49ers lineup since Pierre Garcon got injured. Though there are challenges to his playing time in Aldrick Robinson and Kendrick Bourne, Taylor figures to only need three or so receptions to reach his Projected Fantasy Points total this week.
