Entering the final year of the lucrative deal he inked in May of 2014, Sherman will account for $13.2 million on the Seahawks' books for the upcoming season, something the team likely would prefer to amend on the heels of the torn Achilles he suffered in November. Speculation that Sherman would be traded or released during the offseason was fueled by teammate Jeremy Lane intimating in a post earlier Wednesday on his personal Twitter account that Sherman wouldn't be retained. Sherman's meeting with the team brass Wednesday may have put the final wheels in motion for one of those transactions, especially if the soon-to-be 30-year-old, who is working as his own agent, is unwilling to accept a pay cut. Expect the Seahawks to make a decision on Sherman's statusbefore the new league year kicks off March 14.
